ARLA warns of changes to legislation for landlords

Landlords who may have chosen to protect their property with buy to let insurance are being reminded about changes to the categorisation and regulation of homes in the rental sector.
The Association of Residential Letting Agents (Arla) has highlighted legislation which means landlords will require planning permission to make changes to properties where there are between three and six unrelated tenants who share facilities, such as a bathroom.
Previously, the law applied only to those properties which housed six or more unrelated tenants

HCC Insurance Holdings is opening new Primary Casualty and Excess Casualty divisions, which company officials say should serve to extend its underwriting activities.
The Primary Casualty and Excess Casualty Divisions will further expand the Houston-based insurers specialty focus by extending its underwriting activities into general liability and excess liability insurance for construction, manufacturing, premises and public entity risks.
With underwriting teams headquartered in Chicago and Los Angeles, the Primary Casualty Division will focus on construction, manufacturing and premises risks.
The Excess Casualty Division will be based in Chicago with an underwriting presence on the West Coast and will focus on construction, manufacturing, premises and public entity risks.
Given our leadership position in specialty insurance, establishing a strong general casualty underwriting capability is a natural progression for HCC, said John N.

Well, its more of a scooter than a motorcycle, and the guy writhing on the ground appears be sort of a for lack of a better phrase Drama Queen but it is what it is.
Police have used mace on the Wall Street Protesters, and Id say getting maced (not that Ive ever done that) is probably much worse than having a small scooter bump into you. At any rate, this very, very low-speed collision looks like it was an accident, at least on the cops part.
The cop could pretty easily have set upon the guy with his night stick, put the boot in and dealt with the crowd later, but I think he showed remarkable restraint.
