Atkinson Smith launches online self-build offering
Posted on May 12th, 2011
Atkinson Smith has launched an online quote and buy facility to support its self-build (new build) and home extension/conversion offering.
The scheme, which is underwritten by Brit Insurance, is now available to retail customers and brokers direct.
The firm’s managing director, Ian Laycock, comments: “With over 15,000 self-build projects taking place each year in the UK, we felt there was a great opportunity for us to take advantage of this growing, niche market.”
He adds: “Brit Insurance shared our views on the online potential of this scheme and we have together worked with edge IPK to develop an integrated online solution targeted at both customers and other brokers who wish to place business via this scheme.”
In recent week, Housing Minister, Grant Shapps, has announced that he wants self-build to become a mainstream option in the UK.
According to the Mr Shapps, the Government will shortly be publishing details of publicly-owned sites that are to be made available to housebuilders, including plots exclusively for self-builders.
