Extreme conditions and insurance
Posted on May 16th, 2010
The recent ‘big freeze’ and ‘big thaw’ has for many insurance customers exposed the many areas that are not covered in policies. There hasĀ for instance been a rise in claims for burst pipes and boiler breakdowns and it appears that many policies do not cover some of these things.

It may be that some of the more competitive policies leave out certain potential occurrences in an effort to provide low cost insurance.
What it does show is that many people may not be reading the small print when it comes to insurance policies and do not know exactly what a policy covers.
As much as it may seem like a task and half I think that insurance is one area when it is vital that you check the details of the policy. Its expensive enough – but if the worst does happen and you find that you’re not covered it could be more than just annoying – it could be an expensive lesson.
