Los Angeles Health Insurance on Women’s Health

Posted on May 19th, 2011

Los Angeles health insurance places a high value on women’s health and this is shown in the Los Angeles county Women’s Health Week promotion.  They stressed the importance of paying attention to our health daily to prevent disease and live longer, fuller lives.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health reports that improved health, medical care, and health care prevention contributes to an increase in life expectancy in women throughout the United States.  Women are outliving men throughout the nation on average and this can be partly attributed to quality health care.  According to the article “Women’s Health Week Wraps Up But Health Awareness Should Not” by Lynda Rivers on HighlandPark-CA.patch.com, life expectancy can be compromised by chronic disease such as high blood pressure, depression and diabetes.

A women’s health survey completed in 2007 showed that the percent of women with chronic conditions increased with age, and poor diet, being overweight, and smoking contribute to these conditions occuring sooner.  In Los Angeles county the main cause of premature death in women is heart disease.  Heart disease also increases a woman’s risk of heart attack or stroke.  It’s important women are taking care of the heart and body, finding health insurance coverage and exercising regularly to ensure the best preventative health care plan possible is within their reach.
